Choosing a family holiday can be a tricky task, especially when the kids are all under a certain age.
From chilled-out hideaways to bustling city breaks, there’s so much to choose from, but you want to make sure you get the right balance so everyone has a great time.
So, we’ve collated a list of the 5 best travel destinations for all you young families out there. Hopefully one will give you a bit of inspo for your next getaway.
Italy
Italy, in general, is a fab place to take the kids and keep you entertained as an adult, too.
There’s a whopping 50 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, so you’re never short of something to keep everyone entertained (and off those tablets or phones). Rent a villa in beautiful Tuscany, head to the big cities for a culture-packed trip and plenty of gelato, or explore one of the lakes for swimming, local wines, and delicious pizza and pasta.
Plus, if you’re expecting another addition to your family, many pregnancy guides recommend renting a villa to just take it easy. No stress, minimal spend, and all-round family fun.
Algarve
There’s surfing for the kids (and the adults), rolling beaches, golf courses, and beautiful ocean. It’s no surprise it’s on many top holiday lists for families. The Algarve is a great shout if you fancy hiring a gorgeous villa and chilling out, but still want the option for a bit of adrenaline and excitement.
And for a break from the action, head down the coast to seek out quaint fishing villages, enjoy fresh fish with a glass of something cold, and let the kids hit the beach.
Florida
One word – Walt Disney World
Yes, this is the holy grail of family-friendly holidays. Orlando is your one-stop shop for all things Disney, but be warned, it obviously comes with a price-tag. If you want one big family holiday this year, head to Orlando and go all out. It’s one the kids will remember for years, and it’s not just about waiting in line to meet Mickey and Minnie.
Hire a car and drive down to The Keys and Miami to make the most out of your travel time, too.
Majorca
Sun, sand, sea – Majorca has everything you could want for a family holiday, and won’t break the bank, either.
There’s beautiful Palma where you can spend your days on the beach, exploring the old town, and picking up artefacts from Spanish markets, or just take time away from it all and chill out in the Spanish countryside in your own private villa. The kids can entertain themselves on large inflatables in the pool, and you can settle back with a bestseller and some sangria.
Cornwall
The UK coastline is simply stunning, and if you like the great outdoors and want your family to follow suit, this is the place to be.
The rugged coastline is peppered with history and culture, the sweet villages are perfect for finding a pub and enjoying the British classic, Fish & Chips, and the towering cliffs dominating areas such as Newquay reflect the region’s love for all things surfing and seaside life. Hit the waves, sample fresh seafood and some of the best pub grub, or take the bikes along the top of the cliffs for some of the best views you’ve ever seen.
