The Rooms:
Both times we have stayed here, we have enjoyed a suite with a kitchenette. This is the way to go when traveling with your family. The ease of cooking your own meals after a day of sightseeing and shopping truly makes you feel right at home…not to mention saving money on eating out all the time. Everything you need is here. Pots and pans, dishes, utensils, cheese grater…it’s all here. And though the rooms do not come with a view, it doesn’t really matter because they are comfortable and inviting.
If you’ve got kids be sure to ask for the suite options. Our two bedroom was perfect for our family. Comfortable, clean, fresh and just what we needed.
Generous Continental Breakfast:
I have to say, this is one of my favourite things about the Best Western Plus Chemainus Inn. I love not having to worry about making sure I have something to eat for breakfast in the morning.
I’m not particularly fond of the hours before 10:00am so knowing there’s a healthy complimentary breakfast just downstairs brought me such joy. Not to mention the joy it brought my kids knowing they could venture down the elevator and into the dining room to have a little breakfast adventure. Of course their favourite is always the make-it-yourself waffles while I like the fresh fruit, eggs and hot coffee.
Indoor Heated Pool:
Who doesn’t love going for a swim after a day out and about? A hotel pool is always fun and I surprised myself by finding my inner child when we visited this pool.
Was it the saltwater instead of chlorine?
Had I just had a long day and needed to be a bit crazy?
I don’t know. But I do know that I threw my kids higher than normal and laughed louder than usual. As much as I enjoyed myself, the kids still lasted longer than me, but then, that’s usually the case. The hot tub just calls to me after a while.

You can even check out fantastic island views from atop several hikable summits. One of our favourite is Mount Tzouhalem.
If it’s golf you love, the Cowichan Region has 6 beautifully manicured courses with one right across the street from Chemainus Best Western Plus and there’s always time to rent a kayak in Cowichan Bay and paddle around to view the sunset from the water.
Friendly Staff:
With a cheery “hello” upon entering the hotel, we have always found that the staff here welcome each person with the friendly heart of Chemainus. The atmosphere is one of comfort and a genuine care for the guest. The couple of times we needed something either in our room or in the dining area, the staff were more than willing to help us out and did so with a smile and cheerful heart.
Chemainus Theatre Luxury Getaway Packages:
This is definitely the place to stay when you come to enjoy a show at The Chemainus Theatre. The Chemainus Inn has luxury theatre packages for matinee or evening performances that make a weekend away affordable and quite special. We loved the Twist and Shout summer show, Les Miserable, Mousetrap Murder mystery and so many more!
